In this work, we introduce KnitKit , a flexible and customizable system for the computational design production of functional, multi-material, three-dimensional knitted textiles. Our greatly simplifies knitting 3D objects with complex, varying patterns that use multiple yarns stitch by separating high-level specification in terms geometry, patterns, materials or colors from low-level, machine-specific instruction generation. Starting triangular mesh 2D texture specifies on top our generates required machine instructions three major steps. First, input is processed KnitNet data structure generated. This graph serves as an abstract interface between geometric configuration instructions. Second, rewriting procedure applied produces sequence actions. Finally, low-level are generated adapting those actions to specific context. We showcase potential approach designing fabricating variety complex geometries, yarns, patterns.
